Pastor Denis was called to the lead Pastor role at College Park Baptist in October of 2006. He is a graduate of Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music (GRSBM), which merged with GR Baptist College and is now called Cornerstone University. Both He and his wife of 45 years, Barbara have been involed in ministry throughout their whole lives and Denis has pastored churches in Oshkosh, WI, Allen Park, MI and Kingman AZ. Denis and Barbara have three grown children and three wonderful grandchildren. Together, Denis and Barbara enjoy the hustle and bustle of ministry while also taking time for leisurely activities such as hiking, swimming, or scuba diving.
Denis describes his preaching style as primarily expository, meaning a verse by verse exposition of Scripture. He does however enjoy bringing topical and textural messages from time to time, which he believes, brings a well rounded style to his preaching approach. His heart is to convey God's Word and His principles so that life change can the result. He has been preaching and teaching God's Word for about 26 years.
Josh is a native Southern Californian and his interests are as eclectic and diverse as the Golden State itself, including surfing, skiing, cowboying, antiquing, running, cowboy poetry, creative writing, politics, church history and theology. Each one of these interest has shaped him, but not as much as the impact that Christ has had upon his life. Raised in a god-fearing family, Josh received Christ at a young age and grew in his faith at his home of Church of the Canyons. Since that time he has faithfully pursued ministry while walking the various paths that the Lord has taken him down throughout his adult life. Having received his California State Teachers Credential from CSUB in 2007, Josh taught both Jr. and Sr. High history in the public school system. His passion for the Bible, Christianity and youth culture has led him into Youth Ministry. He recently was blessed with the two greatest gifts that the LORD has given, his wife Erika and her son Noah. Together they look forward to serving the LORD and exemplifying the love of Christ through their family.
Our worship leader Rob Linson was called to lead us in worship in 2009. Rob mixes his accoustic and electric guitar driven music with the various instrumentation of the worship team to present to the LORD the worship that He is due. In our traditional service "Cornerstone," Rob uses simple instrumentation to accompany hymns and in our contemporary service "Journey," he leads us in modern praise and worship music with a band. Above all, whether leading in praise songs or hymns, Rob seeks to lead worshippers to the throne of God that all might worship God in Spirit and in Truth.
